Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 24, 2026
This website is the informational home of the AMA Global Marketing SIG, a Special Interest Group of the American Marketing Association. This policy explains the limited information we collect when you visit the site and how we handle it. If you have any questions, please reach us through our Contact page.
The short version
This is an informational website. There are no user accounts, no logins, and nothing is sold here. We don’t run advertising trackers, we don’t use Google Analytics, and the site does not set cookies. The only personal information we receive is what you choose to send us through a form.
Information We Collect
Standard server logs. Our site is hosted on Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify automatically keeps basic technical logs — such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit — to keep the site running, secure, and reliable. We do not use this data to identify or track individual visitors, and we have not connected Google Analytics or any similar third-party tracking service.
Information you send through forms. Some pages — for example, our contact form and our conference or doctoral consortium applications — let you send us information. When you use one of these forms, we collect what you enter, which may include your name, email address, affiliation, and the details of your message or application. This information is stored in a Google Sheet (Google Workspace) so that we can respond to you and administer SIG activities such as conferences and the doctoral consortium.
Cookies
The site is a static website and does not set cookies or use similar tracking technologies, so there is no cookie banner. (Our hosting provider and Google may process data in line with their own privacy policies — see below.)
Who Processes Data on Our Behalf
We rely on two service providers, and we do not sell your information or share it for advertising:
- Netlify — website hosting (see Netlify’s privacy policy).
- Google — form submissions are stored in Google Sheets (see Google’s privacy policy).
How Long We Keep Your Information
Server logs are retained by our host for a limited period. Information you submit through a form is kept only as long as needed for its purpose — for example, to reply to your message or to run the relevant conference or consortium cycle — and is removed when it is no longer needed for SIG business.
Your Rights
You can ask us to see, correct, or delete the information you have sent us through a form. Just get in touch via our Contact page.
If you are in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Links to Other Websites
Our site links to other websites, such as the American Marketing Association and various universities. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to review their own privacy policies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date above.
